Chinmaya Mission Toronto strives to unite young adults by providing a forum to explore, discuss, and practice Self-Development based on the teachings of the Advaita Vedanta philosophy. The young adults of Chinmaya Mission Toronto engage in weekly, interactive and discussion-based classes on spiritual texts such as the Bhagavad Gita. In their aim to uplift themselves and the world around them, they also facilitate spiritual retreats, social events and community service initiatives. They are part of the global CHYK (Chinmaya Yuva Kendra) and CSK (Chinmaya Setu Kari) groups – what started in 1975 as a small youth forum in Bangalore has now evolved into a global, dynamic, organized body that promotes personal spiritual unfoldment, varying social services, and integrated leadership skills.
Chinmaya Yuva Kendra is the youth wing of Chinmaya Mission. Swami Chinmayananda, the founder, always said it was far more relevant for young people to understand the purpose of life and how to live rather than contemplating life’s big questions in old age when life has largely passed us by.
